Part 1: Read the NY Times article on e-mail etiquette. This is shared with your class via diigo.

    1. Do you agree that e-mail has made professors “too accessible,” as the article notes? Why or why not?
    2. What are your thoughts on the notion that professors’ expertise has “become just another service that students, as consumers, are buying”?
    3. Do you think young people should be more formal with teachers and other adults? Why or why not?
    4. How do you think junior faculty members who rely on their students’ evaluation for tenure should respond to overly familiar or informal correspondence from students without risking their reputations?
    5. Do you think professors should let students know when they are making poor impressions? Why or why not?
